Each year, I choose one or two students as my Student of the Year, and this year, the honor goes to Dulce. Her dedication, resilience, and the right mindset for success truly stand out.
What makes Dulce exceptional is her understanding of the learning process, which comes from her experience as a teacher. After taking my classes, she didn’t achieve her target speaking score immediately. However, instead of going to another tutor with the hope of finding a quick way to succeed, or complaining, she remained disciplined and committed to daily study. Dulce diligently applied the strategies and tools I provided, focusing on retraining her brain to improve pronunciation, enhance the coherence of her speech, and reduce her anxiety. She understood that simply attending my classes wouldn’t be enough—active practice and consistent effort were necessary to achieve lasting results.
Dulce also recognized the importance of addressing her weaknesses directly. She used the insights and resources from my methods to train her brain to think effectively and respond accurately during the TOEFL test. It wasn’t just about attending the classes; it was about the application of strategies, the discipline in practicing, and the patience to trust the process that made her successful. Her ability to stay patient and persistent, even when the results weren’t immediate, sets her apart from many students who seek quick tips or shortcuts. She had the right mindset to be successful fast!
Many students underestimate the effort required to transform their speaking skills. Some even say, “I paid a lot of money and still didn’t get the score,” but often, they are not doing their part.
