“After I got married in early 2018 and permanently moved to the US, I tried to study TOEFL by myself. Yet, I failed. I tried to study with a different tutor, I failed. I tried to follow some “recommended” speaking templates from TOEFL IBT Study Group, I still failed. I was so frustrated. I had no idea what I had done wrong so finally, in the end, I reached out to Sherlen.! I can say that without Sherlen, I would not have passed the test! She was so kind, considerate and understanding. She knew which flaws that the individual had. She evaluated them and had them fixed. I had studied with a few TOEFL teachers, she is the best one. “

-Nui, a pharmacist from Thailand

You need Sherlen’s Successful Introduction to the TOEFL iBT and Fluency School if…

… you need scores of Reading 22, Listening 21, Speaking 26, and Writing 24 or more.

… you never took the TOEFL iBT or you have scores under 19-20 in each section. Or you took the exam many times and you are not getting the required scores.

… you need more help than just self-studying but you don’t know where to start

… you need clear, professional information about how to study with an expert exam coach.

…your fluency in speaking is not fast and you don’t know how to improve it.

“Thanks from the bottom of my heart Sherlen. You are a blessing to TOEFL students. Without you, I would have been stuck forever in this exam. I give you all the credit for getting this score. I followed her recommendation of including the detailed pieces of information and her shadowing method is really helpful. Shadowing technique is repeating after the professor and the students in the speaking questions with the transcripts with the audio and notice the connection between the words. And Sherlen’s most important teaching method is repeating her edited responses and her recordings.”

  • I worked with many exam students from Brazil, Mexico, Japan, China, Egypt, Iran, Vietnam, Thailand, Cuba, and Russia. I understand how each nation’s native language interferes with the English language.
  • I’ve helped many students to get speaking 26+ and my students regularly get advanced scores (25+) in reading, listening and writing as well.
  • I am a MOM and I know how difficult it is to have family responsibilities, work and study for an exam. I will make sure not to overload you with unnecessary and ineffective assignments. I am aware of your challenges and that’s why I  created the most effective course for you.

How long will it take to get all the required scores?

In the 18-hour classes outlined above, Sherlen Tanner teaches the basics of how to get the target TOEFL iBT scores in just 6 weeks. After each session, you will need to continue self-studying and practicing with the techniques that are introduced.

Many students will need further help (after learning the essentials and basics). You may need to continue with private lessons.

It is possible to improve your score in 6 weeks. I’ve had students who achieved their desired scores in a short period of time. They came to me with:

1) A clear, American-sounding accent

(2) Good listening skills

(3) Strong grammar.

If you have these elements, you can expect that with 24 hours of online lessons with me and the HW, you will get the scores you need. Those students also had strong Reading, Listening, and Writing skills. They were just not familiar with the exam strategies.

The improvement is based on four factors:

-the current level of your English

-your target TOEFL score, and what your level of English needs to be to get that score

-how much time you have to devote to English every day

-the speed at which you learn, remember and correctly use new information

There are many factors that influence your progress, which is beyond any teacher’s ability to control. Your memory, energy, motivation, and belief in yourself all impact how quickly you make progress. Your stress level during the test will also play a role in achieving the required scores.
